The scarab is particularly known as an Egyptian symbol. Cyclic symbol of the sun, it was also a symbol of resurrection. It is the image of the sun reborn from within itself: the God who returns.
In Egyptian painting, the scarab carries the ball of sun between its legs: like the solar god returning from the shadows of the night.
