Gold plated bronze Karnak bracelet The Egyptian village of Karnak (al-Karnak, الكرنك, which means 'The Most Esteemed of Places') is located near the archaeological remains of Thebes, on the East side of the Nile. It gave its name to one of the most famous archaeological sites in Egypt: the temples of Karnak, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site (designated 1979).
